Podcasting

OOoooh I have 3 followers on Blogger, but what does that mean? I'm sure it's not very impressive either way.

Well, it's been some time since my last blog, this is due to several reasons. Firstly, anytime I thought of something to possibly write about, I couldn't get the drive to sit down and type for a sustained period of time, secondly, I just haven't had many ideas, I was going to blog a couple of weeks ago about Southampton, but I did a video instead and thought it'd be overkill, plus, saved me typing, but I had a nice day and in some ways wish I hadn't gone because now I've met my friends finally, I want to hang out with them properly, and that's unlikely to happen, when I think of it that way, it gets me down :(

Anyway, the point of this blog was to talk about podcasting, mainly because yesterday morning I was talking to Dale about how I wanted to make a podcast and then this morning I read Dave's blog and see that he's been thinking along the same lines and that's reignited my interest.

My first thoughts were that, we could collaborate, but after reading further on, I thought maybe he might want to make the podcast more specialised and I might not fit in to that. We'll see, i'll have a chat with him, when he wakes up, I tried phoning but 11:30, I assume he's still asleep. I thought we could collaborate for several reasons. Firstly, I too was thinking about having music in my podcast, in the past people have told me not to bother with music in podcasts because people just skip the songs, but personally I prefer some variety, however long of just talking puts a lot of pressure on to actually make every bit of it entertaining, music breaks up the recording nicely.

The second reason I thought about a collaborative effort was simply because I think too many podcasts coming out at the same time can just flood the market and people are easily bored, I seem to remember a podcast boom some 7-8 months ago and I think people lost interest. However I'm still on the fence as to whether it's worth the effort, Firstly, myself, Dave and others may be looking to podcast on another project pretty soon and having my own podcast may be pointless.

So at the moment I'm undecided, I've been thinking sporadically for over a year about making a podcast. It's a large part of the reason I bought my Samson CO3U microphone, which would sound great quality wise, I actually have the set up to make a decent podcast now but I need to think very carefully as to what the format would be and ultimately whether there is an audience for me. I only have 550 odd subscribers, so it certainly wouldn't be massive. But people have always said on the rare occassions I've been on stickam, that I should do radio, so I may give it a go. I might possibly make some test podcasts not to upload and see what some friends think of them and whether it's worth me making it a regular thing.

Seeing as people rarely comment my blog, it's probably not worth asking, but opinions would be greatly appreciated.

It would be brilliant. You're right, you SHOULD do radio.

And I'd totally be a special guest.
